Sequencing is all kinds of important for little kids. After all, it’s a foundation for early math and literacy skills. Your preschoolers and kindergartners will practice ordinal numbers, recognizing patterns, storytelling and even cause and effect with these free printable preschool worksheets.
Does your kiddo play baseball, football, soccer, or basketball? Are your little learners involved in gymnastics? These sequencing worksheets cover all of the above. When you can incorporate something your kiddos love into learning, it’s a surefire win for everyone involved.
Basically sequencing is being able to put ideas or events into a logical order. What happens first, second, third, etc.
Working together is a great skill for kids both on and off the field. Maybe your kiddo can work on these sports themed sequencing worksheets together and then go outside and play a fun cooperative game.
What a great way to practice communication and problem solving skills that will benefit your preschoolers and kindergartners long-term!
Sequencing happens almost naturally with sports. First, we put on our uniforms. Then, we meet on the field. Next, we pick our positions. Last, we play the game. It’s also a wonderful foundation to understanding concepts such as telling time. If the game is at 3 PM, what time will we need to get ready and what time will we need to leave?
Having these conversations with little kids gives them a framework of sorts for recognizing patterns and understanding routines.

Keep in mind that all preschoolers and kindergartners do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best mama judgement when planning activities for your little kids.
