Want something really exciting for your preschoolers on Valentine’s Day? Try this Valentine’s Day STEAM activity! This tinker table will wow your kids and fill them with excitement and curiosity.

It’s quick and easy to create a tinker table for your preschoolers. What’s a tinker table? A tinker table is a space where your kids can create and experiment with inventing, building, and engineering.

You can provide themed items to encourage your preschoolers to tinker and build important STEM learning skills this Valentine’s Day. Try adding themed washi tape, red plastic cups, pipe cleaners, straws, hole punchers, and cardboard to spark creativity at your Valentine’s Day tinker table.

Sensory Play for Valentine’s Day

Preschoolers love sensory play! Research has shown that sensory play builds important nerve connections in the brain and increases a child’s ability to complete complex tasks. Sensory play also helps to support language skills, motor skills and teaches children problem-solving skills.

You can encourage sensory play at home or in the classroom with your very own themed sensory bins. Start with my instructions for Colorful Sensory Rice. Then, add festive Valentine’s Day items to the bin for your preschoolers to explore. We like heart mini erasers, cookie cutters, and artificial flowers.
