As much as the little guy and I usually love our Tot School Days and learning through play, sometimes we’re just not feeling it. He’s irritable. I’m exhausted. Or we’re both in bed by 8 PM. Such is life, right? Some weeks are of course worse then others, but suffice it say that last week we definitely weren’t feeling it. We did practically nothing all week. And you know what? That’s perfectly okay.
Seriously, there are weeks when we’re struggling just to get through the days because maybe one or the other of us is sick or we’re just a lot more tired than we usually are. Either way, it makes sense to take a step back and realize that not doing much, if anything, isn’t the end of the world.
We make art just because. We spend lots of time writing and doodling.
I got the little guy some awesome new pencils, a composition book, and a huge pack of stickers. Lol… I figured it was about time for him to have a journal of his own, so… One thing we learned not too long ago is that he loves stickers. And of course he loves putting stickers on himself too. Doesn’t every toddler?
We spend time exploring nature. A while back, the little guy stumbled across my collection of crystals & gemstones, figured out how to open the boxes, and spent quite a while picking each one up and looking at it before putting it back ever-so-gently. At that point, I thought he’d like a little collection of his own. So now we has a nature tray.
And when it’s all said and done, that’s what’s important. The simple fact that we’re spending time together and learning is all that really matters. We don’t need a boxed curriculum or themed activities for that. All we really need is a little bit of creativity.
We only have a few more weeks before the little guy’s birthday and then all kinds of awesomeness will be headed our way. More about that later, though.
