Right now, I’m loving anything and everything that’s transparent and that includes floating frames. Initially, I was going to use vinyl for this project, but decided to use a transparency instead. I love the way this turned out and it’s a simple alternative to using a die cutting machine.
What You’ll Need
8×10 Floating Frame
2 Transparencies
Paper Trimmer
Photoshop Elements
Printer
Washable Paint
1. The first thing I did was create the text in Photoshop Elements. You could use Microsoft Word as well.
2. I also added the little guy’s name and the date in the bottom right corner. Once I had things just the way I wanted them, I printed the text onto a transparency. I trimmed it and added it to the frame. This was my first layer.
3. I used the second transparency for the little guy’s footprints. After everything was dry, I trimmed it, and added it to the frame as well. This was my second layer.
4. I reassembled the frame and it was finished. Like I said, quick and easy. What do you think? Have you used a floating frame for any of your projects lately? Leave a comment and share.

This is so cute! I love the process and it is so perfect. I own a Silhouette so I tend to go that way but your method gives me a super easy way to use my great fonts and get a fantastic gift.

Oh I love floating frames too. My Mother’s Day craft was a shadow box which had a similar floating feel to it. Great craft! Thanks for sharing!
Love the look of transparencies also and have used them in scrap-booking. Thanks for sharing a darling Father’s Day idea!
