Fine Motor Activities for Preschoolers & Kindergartners
These Thanksgiving coloring pages are a great way to practice important fine motor skills with little kids. Not only are these skills critical for handwriting success, but we also rely on them for self-care tasks. Everything from using kitchen utensils to buttoning our shirt or tying our shoes requires the use of fine motor skills.
One of the best things that you can do for your little learners is to let them play. After all, that’s how preschoolers and kindergartners learn best. Coloring is a wonderful, play-based way to build fine motor skills. Here are a few other holiday-themed ideas too!
- Play with playdough. Give your kiddos red, orange, and yellow playdough, some loose parts, and let them create their own Thanksgiving scene.
- Create a thankful mini album. Give your little kids a piece of cardstock each day and make sure to add something they’re thankful for too. Staple them all together or put them into a mini binder. Your kiddo can choose their favorite Thanksgiving coloring page to use as a cover for their album.
- Practice weaving with paper and make some colorful Thanksgiving placemats to use for family dinner. Remember to laminate them so they can be easily wiped off.
- Make a beautiful Thanksgiving wreath using a paper plate. Have your little learners cut out and decorate lots of fall leaves and then glue them onto the paper plate.
