We’re getting ready to wrap up our Ocean Commotion preschool theme and the little guy and I are both looking forward to learning about Growing Gardens. We like totally skipped spring and it’s been 80+ degrees for the last few days. Hard to believe, I know.
This week, it’s totally been warm enough to play in the water. Last week on the other hand, not so much. Instead we ended up putting together a quick & easy beach sensory activity. Talk about having a blast, though.

If you’ve been around for a while, then you already know that we’re using Mother Goose Time for preschool homeschool and it’s been such a huge blessing for us.
The little guy loves anything and everything sand and water and of course learning about the ocean has meant a nice mix of the two. We have a fun water activity to share next week, but today it’s all about sand.
If you’re interested in putting together your own Quick & Easy Beach Sensory Activity for Little Kids with stuff that you probably already have around the house, then definitely keep reading.
Quick & Easy Beach Sensory Activity for Little Kids
What you’ll need
- Activity tub or other small container
- Rainbow Gemstones
- Play Sand
- Small Bowls
Here’s how to do it
- Pour the sand into the activity tub or other small container.
- Toss in the rainbow gemstones and small bowls.
- Encourage your little kids to explore the sand and gemstones.
Like really, it doesn’t get any easier than that. And not surprisingly, the little guy is all about these kinds of activities. The messier, the better… You know, at least in his eyes.
I love having lesson plans that are already created for me, but I definitely still enjoy being creative too. Every now and again, the two collide and we end up with an impromptu activity that goes along with our monthly theme.
This just happened to be one of those days. Lol… It’s the little things in life, right?

As a Mother Goose Time blog ambassador, I receive the Mother Goose Time Preschool curriculum in exchange for my honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, my opinions on awesome stuff for little kids are 100% my own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best mama judgement when planning activities for your little kids. #mgtblogger
