One very important skill preschoolers must learn in order to write well is how to control the pencil. This requires fine motor skills, building finger muscles, and practicing pencil control. This week, I’m really excited to share with you a new pencil control Christmas preschool worksheets that will help preschoolers develop these important skills in a fun and festive way.
Students, especially young ones like preschoolers, learn better when they are engaged and having fun. With that in mind, I’ve created some fun and festive Christmas stocking pencil control worksheets.
We all know the only thing our preschoolers are thinking about right now is Christmas, so why not latch on to the idea and serve up learning activities with a holiday theme?

Pencil control isn’t just about being able to hold the pencil with the proper grip. It’s also about being able to start and stop writing, the ability to form the lines and curves needed to make proper letters, and manipulate the pencil as needed to write quickly and legibly.
With these printable Christmas stocking worksheets, preschoolers can practice starting, stopping, and making curves and zigzag lines as they decorate their very own Christmas stockings.
For added fun, give students colored pencils in order to personalize their very own stocking designs! Feeling brave? Try glitter pens. It might be messy, but they are so fun! Plus, as an added bonus, glitter pens require even greater control to start and stop “writing.”
Another great idea for preschool teachers would be to use these fun printable stocking worksheets as holiday decorations for your classroom! Just cut out your student-decorated stockings and attach to the classroom door, wall, or even a fun Christmas themed bulletin board. Kids will love seeing their work on display for the holidays.
If you choose the bulletin board, create a pocket when attaching the stockings and you can gift your students with a candy cane before the holiday break inside their very own Christmas stocking worksheet! Keep scrolling to get your worksheets and start planning for holiday learning today.
