This was probably the little guy’s favorite because he got the opportunity to use some of mama’s art supplies. You know, the messy stuff that’s not quite as washable as Crayola.
And of course any opportunity for him to explore new mediums is a win as far as I’m concerned, even if I will be cleaning it up for days.
Side note: We used Heidi Swapp Color Shine and it actually did clean up relatively easily with a baby wipe, so… Just a helpful hint from one homeschool mama to another. Lol…

What you’ll need
- Paper Plates
- Scissors
- Paint
- Stapler
- Paint Brushes
- Coffee Filter
- Spray Mist
Here’s how to do it
- Cut the paper plate into the shape of a lily pad and paint it green. Wait for it to dry.
- Use the spray mist to saturate the coffee filter. You might want to do this step for your little kids, depending upon how old they are and whether or not they understand not to spray mist on anything other than the coffee filter. Let it dry as well.
- When both are dry, scrunch up the coffee filter and staple it to the paper plate.
Talk about easy, right? The first time we did this activity, I gave the little guy yellow + blue paint instead of green and we talked about primary and secondary colors and of course color mixing.
This would also be an awesome way explore texture. Think outside the box and try using bubble wrap instead of paint brushes.

Yea, probably not one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, but… It all comes off eventually. Lol… Thanks so much for visiting! Have an awesome week!
How fun! I’m not sure I’m brave enough to use non-washable paint like you, though!
