As a Mother Goose Time blog ambassador, I receive the Mother Goose Time Preschool curriculum in exchange for my honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, my opinions on awesome stuff for little kids are 100% my own. Keep in mind that all toddlers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best mama judgement when planning activities for your little kids.
I can’t even begin to wrap my head around how quickly time passes! It seems like just yesterday that the little guy and I were ripping open our very first little yellow school bus box from Mother Goose Time. In reality, it’s been almost a year. Hard to believe, I know.
Each month means a new theme and lots of fun stuff to go with it. And of course the little guy gets so excited about each and every one.
I thought it’d be fun to do a little bit of a review for y’all. Here’s a list of the 5 things we love about box day. These are the things that we absolutely can’t wait to get our hands on each month.
We both love this adorable Christian program. Each month, we receive this add-on with our curriculum kit. There’s a story + 5 activities for each week, so whether you do it all in one day or a little bit at a time is up to you. There’s a lot to love about that, don’t ya think?
Counting + Shape Manipulatives
As far as the little guy’s concerned, these are where it’s at. Given the opportunity, he’d forego everything else in favor of these two little plastic bags. I’m so not kidding. I have each and every set of maniputives organized in a wire basket where the little guy can get them out and put them away on his own. If you’re interested in seeing how we use our counting manipulatives, check out this post.
Have I mentioned how much the little guy loves stamping? He definitely does. He also loves making messes with ink, but that’s a story for another day. Lol… Oh, and of course Mother Goose Time gets bonus points for this one. Who would’ve thought, right? You can find a few ideas for teaching little kids about shapes using shape stamps here.
Jumbo Letter Cards + Letter Cookie Cutters
This, my friends, is how I taught the little guy to recognize letters. And for that matter, the entire process took all of 3 weeks. Lol… Either way, these jumbo letter cards and letter cookie cutters pack a lot of punch. Looking for a few awesome ideas for language + literacy activities? Check out some of our ideas in this post.
Invitation to Create Activities
These are my favorite. I love looking through each of the daily discovery bags and the Planning Journal. So many exciting activities and awesome projects. This is also sort of my planning time, which means I jot down anything I have in mind that I’d like to add. Not sure what the invitation to create activities are all about? Find out anything and everything you ever wanted to know about process art here.
