Sequencing is such an important skill for your preschoolers, kindergartners and even first graders. It encourages creative thinking, problem solving and reading comprehension skills. And of course these cut and paste sequencing worksheets are a great way to practice fine motor skills too, so get started with cutting and pasting your way to strong finger muscles today.
Story sequencing activities teach little kids how to organize information and ideas as well as be effective communicators. Work on these ocean sequencing worksheets together then talk about the order the events and don’t forget to ask your kiddos why questions. Why do you think that step should be first? Why do you think that’s what happens next?
Having conversations with your preschoolers and kindergartners increases both critical thinking and verbal communication skills, both of which mean little kids who are better at expressing themselves and that ultimately have better relationship skills in their everyday lives.
Ocean Sequencing Activities
Do you have older kiddos who might still benefit from working on sequencing skills? Extend the activity by having your first graders and beyond write a story describing each step in the sequence. That’s just one of the sequencing activities that I’m planning for the little guy during our 1st grade homeschool year.
It’s a great way to work on creative writing skills. Kiddos can use the writing process while putting together a fun sequencing notebook filled with stories they’ve written themselves. Talk about a wonderful keepsake for years to come!
Ocean Sequencing Math Center
You could have your kiddos color the sequence stories, cut out each set, and laminate everything. If you add velcro to the pieces, it makes a wonderful DIY Ocean Sequencing Math Center that your preschoolers and kindergartners will enjoy coming back to over and over again.
Kindergarten Sequencing Worksheets
Keep in mind that all preschoolers and kindergartners do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best mama judgement when planning activities for your little kids.
I hope you enjoy using these kindergarten sequencing worksheets with your little kids as much as I enjoyed creating them with mine.
