One of our favorite days each month is of course box day. The little guy and I both love getting our new preschool curriculum kits. There are so many awesome things for us to explore in every little yellow school bus box.

If you’ve been around for a while, then you already know that we’re using Mother Goose Time for preschool homeschool and it’s been such a huge blessing for us.
It’s actually kind of hilarious how much alike we are. No sooner does a new box get delivered and we’re both tearing into it.
The little guy tends to go for the manipulatives, the storybook, and the magnetic storytelling pieces. I’m usually looking for the Teacher Guides. Either way, neither of us can wait to find out what’s inside.
Manipulatives are so versatile and it’s all kinds of awesome that he’s as into them as he is. We’ve used manipulatives for counting, building, and even pretend play.
When we finish each theme, I put everything into a small plastic tote. You know, except the manipulatives. We keep those out. The little guy goes back to them over and over again.
He’s enacted imaginative scenes with the counting manipulatives and created elaborate structures with the building manipulatives.
It’s nothing less than amazing to me how much joy little kids can get from something that seems so simple. And yet, all of the manipulatives that we get in our curriculum kits encourage creative thinking and problem solving skills.
It’s all about the little things in life, right? I love that I can give him a container of blocks and links and counters and he’s entertained for hours. And as a homeschool mama, that’s something that’s all kinds of priceless to me.
