Sweater Design Contest!
Have you heard about ugly sweater contests? I think they’re hilarious and fun! Your kids can show off their creativity and imagination by designing some really cool holiday sweaters for Christmas using the prompt on this activity placemat.
You can laminate the placemats to protect them from spills and make them reusable. If you’re not laminating, you might want to cut out their cute Christmas sweater designs and turn them into ornaments for the Christmas tree or an adorable holiday sweater themed garland.
Christmas Coloring Activity
The Christmas placemats wouldn’t be complete without a festive coloring activity. I’ve included an adorable old-fashioned pickup truck carting home a Christmas tree for your little ones to decorate.
It will be lots of fun to talk about their color choices over dinner. Plus, they’ll be building fine motor skills and concentration too. It’s a great way to keep kids focused and calm while they wait for dinner.
Got a lot of cooking to do for your holiday meal? Print these Christmas activity placemats and let your kids spend some quiet time coloring at the table while you prepare the meal. It’s the perfect way to keep them occupied and ensure they won’t be underfoot in the kitchen.
Elf Maze Activity
My kids love mazes! There’s no way I could make an activity placemat without one. Mazes are excellent at helping kids build problem-solving skills and learn to be persistent as they search for the correct path. In this Christmas maze, your little ones can help the elf find his Christmas gift.
You can use this maze to spark conversation with shy children at your holiday table. Try asking:
- What do you think is in the elf’s gift box?
- Who do you think the present is for?
- What gifts do you think you might receive over the holidays?
Holiday Word Games
I’ve also included some fun word games on this Christmas activity placemat for kids. These games are perfect for expanding your kids’ vocabulary over the holiday break.
The word search and word scramble on this holiday placemat are perfect for helping your kids increase their exposure to new words while practicing important critical thinking skills.
More Activities for the Kids Table
Want more fun activities you can explore with your children at the holiday table this year? Try some of these exciting Christmas ideas:
- Build gingerbread houses – Set your table with gingerbread cookies, icing, and candy decorations for everyone to share. It’s a great way to have fun getting creative with the family this Christmas and enjoy a sweet treat together too.
- DIY Ornament activity – Instead of a centerpiece, fill the middle of the kids’ table with supplies for crafting ornaments for the tree. Don’t give out any instructions, only enticing craft supplies. You might be surprised by what they come up with! After dinner, you can enjoy putting their ornaments on the tree together.
