Use clothespins or even actual jelly beans and let your preschoolers and kindergartners explore important math concepts including one to one correspondence, counting from 0 to 10, and of course number recognition.
What a fun and engaging way to learn preschool math skills! Here are just a few of the skills that your little kids will learn with these free printable jelly bean Easter counting clip cards.
Number Recognition
Number recognition is so important for little kids and preschoolers can practice this skill by identifying the numbers on each clip card. This Easter counting activity is for sure a wonderful play-based way to accomplish exactly that.
Using counting and numbers as part of play is the best way to ensure that your early learners get a great introduction to mathematical thinking.
Practice counting from 0 to 10
Once you’ve printed and cut out the clip cards, you’ll have one clip card for each number from 0-10. I’m so thrilled that this great jelly bean clip art includes the number zero.
And because of that, you can practice math vocabulary with your preschoolers and kindergartners. Which jar has no jelly beans? Can you find a jar that has only a few jelly beans? Which jar has a lot of jelly beans?
One to one correspondence
Basically, this means being able to count each jelly bean on the clip card once and only once. This is such a meaningful skill for little kids to master and one that we use constantly in everyday life. Don’t forget to talk about more than, less than, and equal to.
After your child has counted the jelly beans on the card, ask him or her to count the same number of real jelly beans.
