The little guy and I had an awesome first week of Baby Animals w/ Mother Goose Time. And of course one of our favorite activities was the Seahorse Invitation to Create. I’m sure that doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s been following along with us for a while. We definitely love process art around here.
I wanted to do a quick post tonight to share what we’ve been up to with Mother Goose Time. This month is all about daily routines, so I thought it’d be fun to give you a peek at how we’re doing things now that the little guy and I are at home. Probably the biggest advantage to our schedule these days is that there’s no need to set an alarm clock during the week.
The little guy has been really lovin’ the math stuff that comes in our Mother Goose Time curriculum kits lately, so I thought it might be all kinds of awesome to put together a math workbox for him. As much as I’d love to be able to set up so-called centers, we just don’t have the space, so… This is of course the next best thing.
I spent lots of time brainstorming anything and everything you could possibly imagine about putting together an art space for little kids. We’re not even going to get into how many hours I spent on Pinterest in the process, but I digress. Yep, I definitely wanted to. Heck, maybe I needed to. After all, what little kid wouldn’t totally love having an art space of their own?
The little guy and I have been spending lots of time working on Math + Reasoning Skills. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Mother Goose Time definitely has it all figured out. One of this week’s activities was a preschool Counting Bears activity. What a great way to work on math + reasoning skills for little kids, don’t ya think?
Sometimes I share an overview of our entire day and other times I stick with one specific activity or project. Today it’s looking like the Hedgehog invitation to create is where it’s at. The little guy seriously loved it. We started with some craft supplies and an inspiration photo of a hedgehog and went from there.
I haven’t shared an entire day of Mother Goose Time lately, so this post is of course a bit overdue. Today was all about Pipes & Plumbers and we definitely had lots of fun learning about both. We started with the Pipe Sculpture activity.
One of our favorite activities this week was the Robot Tinkering invitation to create. The new process art experiences from Mother Goose Time always exceed my expectations and this one was definitely no exception. The skills listed for this activity were Shapes (16.2) and Logic (20.1).
The little guy and I had lots of fun working on an Upcycle Collage invitation to create process art experience, except when it was all said and done, we didn’t end up making a collage after all. Whoa. Wait a sec! You mean, we made something, but didn’t actually make anything? Talk about an oxymoron, right?
We’ve been at home full-time for a few weeks now and we’re right where we should be for the month with Mother Goose Time. Yay! It’s all kinds of awesome to finally be doing things in real time. It used to be that we’d do lots of stuff on the weekends and hardly anything during the week.
