Beach Ball Letter Game

I love it when learning activities are fun for my kids and don’t require a lot of prep work from me. This fun beach ball ABC game is a great way to get your kids excited about learning letters and letter sounds without investing a lot of time or money.

To play this fun beach letter game, write uppercase and/or lowercase letters on a beach ball using a permanent marker. Arrange letters somewhat randomly all over the ball. Then, take turns tossing the ball around with your preschool learners. Kids can catch the beach ball and name the letters closest to their fingers.

For extra learning fun, switch it up by having children build phonemic awareness by practicing letter sounds. Instead of naming the letters their little fingers touch, preschoolers can make the corresponding letter sound. It’s a great way to help early learners get ready to read!

Once your preschool learners have practiced naming the letters on the ball, print these summer color by letter preschool worksheets. Kids will have fun coloring these fun beach scenes while getting in some extra letter practice.

DIY Puzzles for a Rainy Day

Don’t have a beach ball on hand? These easy beach themed printables are all you need for learning fun. Once your children have identified all the letters in these cute beach scenes and colored every space, make a puzzle!

DIY Puzzles are a perfect activity for rainy days at home. Use scissors to help your preschooler cut the color by letter worksheet into “pieces.” Puzzles are a great way to help kids build problem-solving skills and practice critical thinking. Also, puzzles are a lot of fun!

You can have even more fun by turning your color by letter puzzles into a competition! After coloring all the Summer worksheets and cutting them into puzzles, give each child one DIY puzzle and set a timer. Watch as your preschoolers race to see who can complete his or her puzzle first.

Interactive Summer Story Time

Reading to my children is one of my favorite things to do. I love snuggling up with them and reading fun picture books together. Besides, exposing children to the magic of books early and often is one of the best ways to encourage them to love reading.

Here are some fun beach themed stories we really love:

  • The Pout-Pout Fish* by Deborah Diesen
  • How to Code a Sandcastle* by Josh Funk
  • Follow the Moon Home* by Deborah Hopkinson

You can help your little one learn to love books and develop an interest in letters by reading aloud every day and enjoying fun letter activities together like these summer preschool worksheets. Keep scrolling to download summer color by letter preschool worksheets today.

If you’re looking for even more beach themed fun to share with your preschooler, check out my Oh So Blue Under the Sea Ocean Sensory Bin for a fun activity that’s sure to get your kids excited about learning and exploring together.

Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best mama judgement when planning activities for your little kids.

I hope you enjoy using these color by letter summer preschool worksheets with your little kids as much as I enjoyed creating them with mine.
