Bubble Play STEAM Activity for Little Kids
Have a splashing good time with this Bubble Play STEAM Activity for little kids! Toddlers and preschoolers alike will enjoy experimenting with mixing colors and making bubbles. This activity is quick & easy and provides a great sensory experience.
Today we did a fun bubble play activity that was all kinds of awesome and both little kids obviously had a blast with it!
Sensory exploration is so important from a developmental perspective and we definitely place a high priority on providing as many opportunities as possible in the preschool years for our little kids to do exactly that.
It’s almost summer, y’all! And both little kids and I have been spending lots of time outside.
Not too long ago, we got a mud kitchen for the little guy and it’s definitely getting lots of use. We also got baby girl a really pretty outdoor blanket for on the deck and she for sure loves it.
So basically, all of that to say that everyone’s feeling really at home out there these days. I mean, it’s been too hot to be stuck in the house all day anyhow.
This week, we learned about Soapy Water and the daily topics included Bath Time, Washing Dishes, Car Wash, Laundry, and Bubbles.

Bubble Play STEAM Activity for Little Kids
Set Up
- Place soap dispensing bottles or squeeze bottles in a tub.
- Fill them with water, dish soap, and liquid watercolor.
- Encourage children to experiment with squirting colors into the tub.
Big Questions
- What happens when colors mix?
- How can you mix colors together?
- What happens when you shake the soapy water?
- What can you do with bubbles?
It’s hard to believe how quickly baby girl got mobile. She’s into just about everything at this point and preschool homeschool is obviously no exception.
Today we learned about Washing Dishes and did some fun Soapy Squirt Play, basically lots of fun bubble play for both little kids!
Washing dishes is considered a household chore. This is a daily routine that many family members can participate in.
And you know what? They were both so excited and intrigued by today’s activities. The little guy said that he “loved it because of all the bubbles and everything” and baby girl watched so intently as her big brother explored mixing colors and making bubbles.
We started with red, orange, and blue water. We used two squeeze bottles with dish soap and liquid watercolor and a squirt bottle with just a bit of food coloring and water.
The little guy squirted and squeezed and mixed the colors together while baby girl stood right beside him and watched in awe.
And of course she had to get her hands in there too. Lol… Wow! It really is hard to believe that he’s going to be five and she’s almost one.
Not surprisingly, both little kids loved today’s Bubble Play STEAM Activity for Little Kids and a certain little someone has already said that he wants to do it again.
