52 Weeks to an Organized Workspace – Art Journals

April 30, 2016

collage of art journal and paint images with text: How To Organize Art Journals

Hope y’all had an awesome week! We’ve had all kinds of crappy weather this week, but you know what they say about April showers, right? Here’s to hoping for an awesome May! At this rate, I’m going to be moving one of my workspaces out on the deck because the little guy seriously wants to be out there 24-7, which means I of course have to be out there too. Lol…

Welcome to week 23 of the 52 Weeks to a Organized Workspace challenge. This week, we’re organizing all of our art journals, so start gathering them up. I swear these things multiply. I counted no less than a half dozen art journals scattered throughout my creative space. The good news, though, is that this should be a relatively easy week. If that’s the case, you’ll have quite a bit of extra time to work on any challenges that you might still need to get finished.

mixed media art journalDepending on how many you have, you can organize your art journals in any number of ways. You can put them in a basket, which was how I originally organized mine. I’ll actually more than likely go back to doing things that way sometime soon, especially now that I have them all in one place.

You could also use a drawer organizer or something along the lines of a mail sorter that hangs on the wall. The possibilities are endless, but first you need to get all of your art journals gathered up. Once you’ve managed that much, you can take an inventory of sorts and then figure out what kind of container would work best.

Do some brainstorming and take some time to think about how you’re going to organize your art journals and then get to it. Don’t forget to share before and after pictures.

If you’re struggling, check out what we’ve pinned to our 52 Weeks – Workspace & Workflow group Pinterest board. You can also check out all of the ideas I’ve pinned on my Studio Spaces Pinterest boards. Hopefully, you’ll find something that inspires you.

Lol, I didn’t even think about it before but, I too have a dozen art journals and altered book projects strewn around my craft room! I tend to keep them in bags or containers with the stuff I’m using to decorate them with. I like the idea of putting them into one basket though. Thanks for the great idea!
