It’s that time of the week again, y’all! Time to share what we’ve been up to with preschool homeschool. Here’s the issue, though. We haven’t been up to much of anything.
For us, December has meant taking a break. You know, taking a step back from the everyday and focusing on family. I finished up Christmas shopping for the little guy and of course got everything wrapped and ready to go.
I love this time of the year. It’s nothing less than magical, especially when you have little kids. But there’s just so much to do and we can’t do it all. How did we decide what or priorities would be for the season and whether or not we would homeschool preschool through the holidays?

First things first, we use Mother Goose Time for preschool. One awesome thing about this curriculum is that there are 20 daily discovery bags for each month’s theme. Keep in mind, though. This particular preschool curriculum includes a theme for each month of the year, which means you’re getting little yellow school bus boxes all summer too.
Occasionally, we need to take some time off. That’s life. Sometimes it’s more important to take a vacation or even just spend time together than what it is to check things off on our monthly activity calendar.
They’re only little for so long and you can’t get this time back. We love Mother Goose Time and it’s definitely a blessing for us, but life comes before preschool curriculum.
That means that, at least for us, December was just for fun. That’s not to say that we didn’t use a lot of what came with our Winter Wonderland theme. The little guy loves the manipulatives and this mama loves the storybooks and storytelling magnets too.
We didn’t stick to a schedule, though. And because of that, we definitely didn’t get finished. We did a few activities here and there throughout the month when we weren’t busy with other stuff.
No stress. No pressure. There’s already enough of that in December, don’t ya think? Lol…
It’s a decision that only you can make. What’s right for you and your little kids? With so much going on in December because of the holidays, it makes sense for us to let preschool take a backseat to everything else. However, we’re still doing something educational just about every day. We read. We make stuff. And of course we play.
The little guy is definitely still learning. And you know what? That’s really all that matters.
When it comes down to it, I wouldn’t trade Mother Goose Time for anything. We both love it. I mean, c’mon. He asks for it just about every day, but it’s also nice to just hang out sometimes.
