It seems like so long ago that I sat down and printed the Infant/Toddler Standards for my state. 142 pages of something that meant basically nothing to me and I shelved it not long after. What a waste of ink, right?
Fast forward to the little guy and I starting preschool homeschool and I could really care less. I’ve come to a few valuable conclusions in the last year or so. Side note: I never ended up printing the Pre-K early learning standards and today I’m going to talk about why.

If you’ve been around for a while, then you already know that we’re using Mother Goose Time, which is a research-based curriculum that’s been all kinds of awesome for me as a homeschool mama.
So how exactly did I go from being a little overzealous about the whole thing to having not a care in the world? One word: Aligned. Mother Goose Time is nationally recognized and aligned to state standards. Did you catch that?
I’m sure you’re probably thinking that’s nice and all, but… What’s in it for me? Well, that’s easy. It’s just one more thing that you don’t have to worry about anymore.
If you’re spending hours every week creating lesson plans and then adding in the applicable standards, which is exactly what I was doing before we started using this curriculum, then it’s going to save you a ton of time. And I promise you, it definitely has.
I love that I can see at a glance which skills pertain to each activity and then use the Developmental Continuum of Skills to get even more information about exactly what the little guy should be doing from infant to primary.
Seriously, though. At this point, I can’t imagine our lives without Mother Goose Time. It’s definitely made that much of an impact.
