We’ve kinda had an odd few weeks around here. We had everything ready to go for the 2017-2018 homeschool year and then ended up at Ikea of all places. Oops! Big mistake. Can you take a guess what happened?
If you guessed that this mama bought lots of stuff we really didn’t need, then you’d be right. We ended up with a tumbling mat, a Trofast, and the Flisat children’s table that’s all kinds of awesome. And then we ended up rearranging and reorganizing the entire studio yet again. Why am I not surprised?

I am so excited about using the Flisat children’s table for sensory activities. The two bins are perfect for setting up both the Investigation Station and the Invitation to Create or Make + Play for each day. I’m seriously head over heels in love with it and I can’t wait to try it out. In the meantime though, we filled the bins with stuff that we already had.
As we transition into a new homeschool year, I can’t help but reflect on how Mother Goose Time inspires us to think outside the little yellow school bus box and to really own what we’re doing. After all, homeschooling is a lifestyle. We’re definitely not trying to do school at home.
We’re trying to create a love of learning and make education a part of our everyday lives and Mother Goose Time is an awesome resource for doing just that. It’s become sort of the jumping-off point for each month.
What’s not to love about being able to set up a few different activities each day and let the little guy pick and choose what he wants to do? You know, because play-based learning is awesome and of course that’s what Mother Goose Time does best.
I love that we get a new theme to explore together each month and that we can stick with just the activities in the Teacher Guide or add in our own stuff too. And let’s not forget about checking out what we’re getting and brainstorming what we already have.
Having Mother Goose Time as the backbone of what we’re doing saves me so much time and money. You figure, by the time I plan an entire theme and purchase everything we need, it just doesn’t make sense. And especially as a homeschool mama, that’s time that I’d rather be spending with the little guy.
Don’t forget to check back next week to see what we’re up to with our new My Amazing Body theme. And if you missed our preschool space post, you can check it out here.
