It’s time to take a trip to Alphabet Island, y’all! This month, we’re going to review letters and numbers and do lots of exploring.
Jump off the boat and onto an island of learning. Play on the beach, build sand castles and follow a treasure map. Experience the natural wonders of volcanoes, waterfalls, caves and palm trees. End your school year with a luau and dance to island music until the sun sets on a great school year.

The little guy and I had so much fun learning about islands on Day 1 of our new theme from Mother Goose Time. And of course, the Floating Islands activity was definitely a blast.
Set up the Investigation Station
Place a few foam letters in a tub of water. Set out small nature items, such as rocks, sticks, or leaves.
Encourage Investigation: Invite children to explore balancing nature items on the different islands (foam letters). What items make the islands sink? How many items can each island hold?
I gave the little guy a large bowl full of water, some foam letters, and a few things from our Learning Resources STEM Sink or Float Activity Set.
And if you look closely, you can see that I also added a few drops of food coloring. He wanted blue water. Lol… He spent lots of time throughout the day experimenting with the various items.
You know that this curriculum is all kinds of awesome when the little guy wants to do the activities over and over again. And that was definitely the case with this one.
Don’t forget to check back next week to see what we’re up to with our new Alphabet Island theme. And if you missed our preschool space post a while back, you can check it out here.
