We’ve spent a completely ridiculous amount of time working on the studio project in the last few weeks. I took a few days off to really focus on getting things finished up. And of course we’re just about there. Tim is going out to do the last coat of Polyurethane in a few minutes.
That means the only thing that’s standing between us and being finished with this project is a few pieces of trim… Well, that’s the good news at least. The bad news is that the Polyurethane takes 14 days to completely cure and of course we don’t want to ruin it, especially considering we’ve spent an entire week staining and sealing and sanding.
What’s next? In a few days, we can start touching things up and get the baseboard cut. Yep, we’re doing that by hand as well. We picked out a router blade to give it a nice, decorative edge and we’ll need to get everything primed and painted. While Tim’s working on that, I’ll be puttying and painting any remaining imperfections in the trim.
Like I mentioned in my last post, there are still quite a few nail holes and gaps that need some combination of puttied/caulked, sanded, and refinished. That’s of course my job because I’m the perfectionist around here. Lol…
After that, we have lots of cleaning to do and I’m hoping to be moved in by mid-month, but that depends on a lot of factors, not all of which are in my control unfortunately. Either way, the two week countdown is on. Here’s to hoping everything works out according to plan.
